Two individuals are now under arrest following an incident where gunshots were fired outside a busy bar in Birmingham city center over the weekend. During the early hours of Saturday morning (17 June) on John Bright Street, a 21-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to his arm. The incident took place at 3:15 am when people were leaving bars in the bustling area near New Street Station.

Following a prompt investigation, we have apprehended a 21-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder, as well as a 20-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender and possessing a bladed article. Both individuals are currently in custody for questioning. Intelligence led us to locate them at an address in Highgate.

We strongly encourage anyone with suspicions or information to come forward and contact us. We treat all cases involving firearms with utmost seriousness, as guns have no place on our streets. Those who employ them to cause harm, fear, or loss of life will face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
