12-year-old boy died After he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Birmingham

In a devastating incident, a 12-year-old boy riding his bicycle was fatally struck by a car in Birmingham. Authorities are now appealing to witnesses for information to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragic event unfolded on Coventry Road at the junction with Berkeley Road, shortly after 6:15 pm yesterday (Thursday). Despite the dedicated efforts of the ambulance service, the young boy sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The grieving family is receiving support from specialized officers who are trained to assist them through this unimaginably difficult time.

A 32-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, part of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, issued an appeal for witnesses, particularly those who may possess dashcam footage, to come forward and provide any relevant information. The focus is on understanding the sequence of events that led to this heartbreaking incident.
