Prince Harry was worried that Meghan Markle would break up with him when they first started dating, says royal expert Angela Levin.
In 2016, Prince Harry found Meghan Markle’s Instagram page one night. He was very interested in her from that moment. He sent her a direct message, and they arranged to meet for their first date at a bar in Soho. After that, their relationship quickly grew stronger.
By the end of 2016, the public knew about their relationship. In 2017, they got engaged, and in the spring of 2018, they got married. A royal expert now says that Prince Harry, who is 39 years old, was scared Meghan might leave him. He thought the pressure from the media and the attention from the public, which was very different from what she was used to, might make her want to end the relationship.
Prince Harry’s comments come after he made a statement about his new girlfriend, Meghan Markle, on the royal family’s official website.
In that statement, Harry criticized the negative headlines about Meghan, especially those with racist undertones. Eight years later, Buckingham Palace removed this statement, causing surprise among royal insiders. At the time, Harry said: “Meghan Markle has faced a lot of abuse and harassment. This includes public smears in newspapers, racist comments, and sexist and racist attacks on social media.”
He added: “Prince Harry is worried about Meghan’s safety and is very upset that he hasn’t been able to protect her.”
In his memoir “Spare,” Harry talked about how unusual it was for members of the royal family to release such statements. He explained that the statement was written quickly and was “strong, precise, angry, and honest.” However, his family, including King Charles and Prince William, were unhappy because this was not the way they usually handled things. Queen Elizabeth II had a rule: Never Explain, Never Complain.
Harry wrote that his family was mad because they had never made statements to defend their girlfriends or wives when they faced harassment.
After the royal website deleted Harry’s statement, many people started analyzing what happened. Angela Levin, who wrote “Conversations with a Prince,” spoke to GB News about how Harry was angry about the media backlash at the time. She said: “In 2016, Harry sent an angry letter to the press accusing them of being racist towards Meghan and harassing her.”
Levin added that when she met Harry in 2016, one of his aides warned her to be very careful because Harry was scared Meghan would leave him. The aide warned that Harry might get very angry if she wasn’t careful.
Levin said, “Harry was terrified Meghan would leave him. It was love at first sight for him.”
“Now, that statement is all gone, and he’s very cross it’s [been removed].
“However, it doesn’t work like that, [the royals] have moved forward and they want to distance themselves from Harry and Meghan, that’s my view”.
