Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly feeling anxious about a new royal documentary that could bring fresh details about their past into the public eye, according to a source who spoke to OK! magazine.
According to Express, The documentary is being made by German TV producer Ulrike Grunewald, who has years of experience covering the British royal family. Her team has traveled to California to gather insight into the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their Montecito neighborhood.
Journalist Richard Mineards, who has covered the royals for UK newspapers before moving to the Sussexes’ area, was interviewed for two hours by the documentary’s Los Angeles-based producer Melanie Hillmann. Her first marriage didn’t end well and her ex-husband is yet to speak out – but who knows, for the right amount of money, he may have his say,” the source told OK!.
The documentary, directed by experienced royal reporter Ulrike Grunewald, has involved her team traveling to the Sussexes’ Montecito neighborhood in California to interview locals for insight. Journalist Richard Mineards, who has covered the royal family in both the UK and US, confirmed he was “grilled” by the documentary’s Los Angeles-based producer for two hours.
The source claimed there may be fears in the Sussex camp over what the new program will unveil, as “there are many things that both of them, especially Meghan, don’t necessarily want in the public domain.”
While Prince Harry has spoken about past mistakes in his memoir “Spare,” the source noted that there are still unknown details about Meghan Markle’s life before meeting Harry, particularly surrounding her first marriage to American film producer Trevor Engelson, which ended in 2013.
The source suggested that Engelson, who has not yet spoken publicly about the relationship, may be willing to share his perspective for the right price. They also hinted that the documentary could shed light on Meghan’s alleged falling out with Kate Middleton, potentially challenging the Sussex camp’s narrative.
According to the source, Harry and Meghan are now “desperate” to leave the past behind and “start afresh,” with Harry worried that their newfound happiness could be jeopardized if Meghan’s history is further investigated.
The couple, who stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020 and moved to the United States, have faced intense media scrutiny throughout their relationship. They have been vocal about their struggles with the British tabloid press and have taken legal action against certain publications.
As anticipation builds for the new documentary’s revelations, it remains to be seen how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will navigate any potential challenges to their carefully crafted public image.
