Meghan Markle is reportedly ‘riled’ by the TV appearances of a member of the Royal Family, as the royal feud shows no signs of abating.
According to a source close to Meghan, the former actress is unhappy with the way Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, has been portraying himself as a ‘modern’ and ‘compassionate’ leader, while ignoring the allegations made by her and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, in their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
The source told the Daily Mail: ‘Meghan is riled by Charles trying to act like the hero of the family. She thinks he’s had a nerve to go on TV and paint himself as a forward-thinking, caring father and grandfather, when he’s ignored the racism and lack of support that she and Harry suffered.’
The source added: ‘She feels he’s been two-faced and that his public image is very different from the reality behind palace doors.’
The source was referring to the recent documentary, King Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall, which aired on ITV on Nov 25. The programme followed Prince Charles as he oversaw his vast estate, the Duchy of Cornwall, and showcased his efforts to promote sustainability, organic farming, and social justice.
According to Express, The documentary also featured interviews with Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry, who praised their father for his vision and leadership. Prince Harry said: ‘He’s done an amazing job, without telling us what he should be doing or the direction that he should be going, he’s just let us learn from the nature of the job, learn from him, learn from Mummy.’
However, Meghan reportedly felt that the documentary was a ‘PR exercise’ to boost Prince Charles’ image and popularity, especially after the fallout from the Oprah interview, in which she and Prince Harry accused an unnamed member of the Royal Family of having ‘conversations’ about their son Archie’s skin colour before he was born.
Meghan also claimed that she felt ‘silenced’ and ‘unsupported’ by the institution, and that she had suicidal thoughts during her pregnancy. Prince Harry said that he felt ‘let down’ by his father, who stopped taking his calls and cut him off financially after he decided to step back from his royal duties.
The Oprah interview sparked a crisis within the monarchy, and prompted Buckingham Palace to issue a statement saying that the allegations were ‘concerning’ and would be ‘addressed by the family privately’.
However, according to the source, Meghan and Prince Harry have not received any apology or acknowledgement from Prince Charles or any other senior royals. The source said: ‘Meghan feels that nothing has changed. She thinks they still haven’t taken accountability for the role they played in her and Harry’s departure. She thinks they are hypocrites who are more interested in their own image than in healing the rift.’
The source also claimed that Meghan and Prince Harry are ‘determined’ to expose the ‘truth’ about the Royal Family, and that they have more ‘bombshells’ to drop in the future. The source said: ‘They are not going to be silenced. They have a platform and they are prepared to use it. They believe they are doing the right thing, not just for themselves, but for the monarchy and the public as well.
