In the morning of Wednesday, September 13, 2023 the local police were called to investigate a heated incident that unfolded on Monday, September 11, 2023. A 45-year-old man found himself interviewed under caution, while a 31-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assault, was released on bail pending further inquiries, as reported by GB News on Twitter on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

The incident in question occurred at a local shop, owned by Sohail Sindho. According to Sindho, the woman in question had attempted to take items from the store’s shelves and exit without making a purchase, leading to a dispute over a refund. Sindho claims that he merely “detained” her on Monday, September 11, 2023.

However, an eyewitness, 18-year-old Edilenny Douteo, who filmed the altercation, offers a different perspective.

Douteo alleges that a staff member at the shop “became aggressive” and even went so far as to “strangle” the customer.

She described the situation as escalating quickly, with the customer attempting to free herself from the staff member’s grip.

In her own words, Douteo stated, “I saw the guy becoming aggressive, and he has strangled her very, very badly. As you can see in the video.

He has strangled her and he dragged her into the shop, and she tried to take him away from her but she couldn’t.”

Sohail Sindho, on the other hand, insists that he did not intend to harm the customer. He explains, “When I was neutralizing her, I don’t know what time my hand goes on her neck.

When you are in a scuffle, you don’t know where you’re holding. If you see the video – so when I was holding from the back to hold on – but even though when I left her, she was hitting me.”

The incident has sparked outrage in the community, leading to protests outside the shop.

Demonstrators held placards reading, “Keep your hands off black women!” This has raised questions about whether the incident has racial undertones.

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, GB News presenter Nana Akua weighed in on the matter, asserting that the incident should not be hastily labeled as racially motivated. Akua argued.

“You can’t cry racism when you don’t get what you want and then behave in a manner that is wholly unacceptable and say the response is because you’re Black. You have to follow the rules like everyone else. You either want privileges or equality; make up your mind!”

The incident has left the community divided, with some advocating for a thorough investigation into both the assault allegations and the possibility of racial bias, while others emphasize the need to gather all the facts before making judgments.

As the investigation unfolds, the community watches closely, hoping for a fair and just resolution to this complex and contentious incident.
