In 2014, two men with vastly different heights met and formed an unlikely friendship. Sultan Kösen, who stands at a towering 8 feet 3 inches (251.46cm), and Chandra Bahadur Dangi, who measures just 1 foot 9½ inches (53.3cm), posed for photos to celebrate Guinness World Record Day at St.

Thomas’s Hospital in London. Kösen suffers from pituitary gigantism, a condition that causes the body to produce excess growth hormones, which led to his impressive stature. However, he was initially concerned about accidentally hurting Dangi or other small people and asked officials to keep them away from him. Despite his fears, he quickly became friends with Dangi and even invited him to visit Turkey.

Sultan Kösen is currently the tallest living man in the world. He once revealed that when he met his new friend, he couldn’t hear anything that was said as his friend was too far away. Kösen broke the world record for the tallest man after 20 years of hopefuls trying and failing to take the title from Moroccan man Brahim Takioullah.

In an interview with Guinness World Records, Kösen shared how his life changed after he was recognized as the world’s tallest man. He added that he also holds the record for having the largest hands and feet on a living person, for a period of time. “After that day, I was born. Before that, I was a very silent person. Now, I can talk. I’m happy. I’m funny,” he said. Kösen now enjoys his life to the fullest.

On the other hand, Chandra Bahadur Dangi was the shortest man in history, according to Guinness World Records. He was recognized for this title in 2012 in Kathmandu. Unfortunately, Dangi only held the title for three years as he lived in an extremely remote location in Nepal. He passed away in 2015 at the age of 75. It’s amazing that he lived such a long and incredible life given that he was a primordial dwarf, a condition that usually causes a typical life expectancy of only about 30 years.
