Man ran out of luck after the car he stole crashed into the pavement in the city center of Wolverhampton

A car believed to be stolen crashed into the pavement in the city center of Wolverhampton. It narrowly missed hitting several pedestrians. The dark-colored hatchback was left damaged on Market Street, causing shock among the gathered onlookers.

Police officers quickly arrived at the scene, where a person was seen lying on the ground. The car had collided with an electricity box. The authorities confirmed that the crash occurred after an attempted vehicle theft. Two off-duty officers, along with uniformed officers, assisted in apprehending a 40-year-old man.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police provided details, stating, “We received a call around 3pm today about a car crashing into an electric box on Market Street, near Queen Street in Wolverhampton. This incident followed an attempted vehicle theft, resulting in a confrontation between the car owner and the suspect.”

The spokesperson added, “Two off-duty officers, along with uniformed officers, intervened and successfully detained the 40-year-old suspect. Market Street and Queen Street are currently closed as authorities deal with the situation.”

An eyewitness named George shared his account, mentioning that he saw the car veer onto the pavement and almost hit two young individuals. Fortunately, the car struck a post first, which alerted them to move out of harm’s way.
