  4. Continue on the B5305 through Sebergham until you reach M6 J41.
  5. Join the southbound lane of the M6.
  6. Exit at J40 of the M6 to get back onto the A66.

For drivers going towards the west, there’s a different suggested route:

  1. At the Rheged Roundabout with the A592, join the A66 going east towards the M6.
  2. Join the northbound lane of the M6.
  3. Exit the northbound M6 at J41.
  4. At the roundabout, take the first exit and get onto the B5305.
  5. Keep following the B5305 through Sebergham until you reach the junction with the A595.
  6. Make a left turn and follow the A595 towards Keswick.
  7. When you get to Bothel, turn left onto the A591 towards Keswick.
  8. Continue on to the Crosthwaite Roundabout to re-join the A66.

Highways England is telling drivers to allow themselves more time for their journeys and to plan ahead if their route is affected by this road closure. They might need to think about finding a different way or waiting a bit before starting their journey.
