In a daring move, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the brink of a potentially “toxic” situation as they contemplate the release of a sequel to their bombshell tell-all memoir, Spare, published in January 2023.
The initial memoir focused predominantly on Prince Harry’s life pre-marriage to Meghan Markle, with notable omissions of recent events, prompting speculation about a potential sequel or a memoir by Meghan herself.
According to royal biographer Robert Hardman, in his new book about King Charles, the Palace found the omission of significant recent events concerning. He revealed, “It did not go unnoticed that Harry and Meghan’s wedding, their married life, and their eventual departure from the royal world amounted to a small part – less than a fifth – of Prince Harry’s memoir.
This suggested either a sequel or perhaps a memoir by Meghan in due course.” However, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams issued a stern warning, cautioning the couple against treading a “lucrative but poisonous path” if they choose to release another tell-all book. Fitzwilliams expressed concern over the potential damage to the couple’s brand, highlighting the negative impact of their previous memoir on their popularity, particularly in the US.
According to a report by Express, Fitzwilliams elaborated, stating, “The publication of Harry’s memoir Spare began a dreadful year for the Sussexes which saw them lose Spotify and their popularity plummeted in the ratings in the US. They were mocked, and Harry’s revelations in Spare were often unwise and were also laughed at.
Notably, Prince Harry, in an interview with The Telegraph shortly after the release of Spare, hinted at the possibility of another book. He claimed to have enough material for a second book, raising the specter of further revelations about his relationships with his brother, Prince William, and his father, Prince Charles.
Harry admitted, “There are some things that have happened, especially between me and my brother, and to some extent between me and my father, that I just don’t want the world to know. Because I don’t think they would ever forgive me.
Fitzwilliams warned against this potential path, emphasizing that such a move would only reinforce the perception that the couple’s livelihood depends on continually criticizing the Royal Family. He asserted, “Their brand would become toxic. Obviously, they would have no future relationship with the Royal Family if they went down this lucrative but poisonous path.”
The stakes are high as the repercussions of another bombshell book could extend beyond strained family relations. Fitzwilliams hinted at the possibility that certain details, if revealed, could lead to irreparable damage to Prince Harry’s relationships with Prince Charles and Prince William.
As the public awaits the couple’s decision, it remains to be seen whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will heed the warning and choose a different narrative for their future endeavors, avoiding a potentially perilous trajectory for their brand and personal relationships.
