Kate Middleton recently sought privacy after suddenly revealing a “planned abdominal surgery.” However, the subsequent news about the Princess Kate’s lengthy hospital stay, extensive recovery period, and need to cancel royal duties sparked rumors about cancer.
And that led the Palace feeling forced to clarify that Kate’s condition was not cancerous. But as revealed below, concerned speculation about her medical problems has soared.
Kate Middleton Sparks Cancer Rumors
Because the Palace revealed that Kate Middleton would need to stay up to 14 days in the hospital, rumors swirled that Princess Kate had undergo surgery for cancer.
As a result, Kate then felt compelled to clarify that she did not receive a diagnosis for cancer. Her denial came after Kensington Palace suddenly announced that she had completed “planned abdominal surgery.” However, the palace then stated that her condition was “non-cancerous” via the Daily Beast.
And Kate also cancelled her royal duties. But her husband Prince William stayed by her side. And he postponed his own plans to balance caring for Princess Kate and handling daddy duty for their children. Amid her hospitalization, William will not take on any official duties.
William and Kate avoiding any travel because of her health problems. However, Kensington Palace refused to provide more details about the mysterious operation and Kate’s condition. And the statement only described the surgery as successful.
But the Palace also issued a statement stating that Kate will stay at the private London Clinic for “ten to fourteen days.” And the announcement noted, “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
Princess Kate Seeks Privacy
However, although that lengthy recovery period sparked speculation, the Palace plans to offer updates on Princess Kate’s condition only “when there is significant new information to share. The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate.
She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
But while some royal family fans respect the 42-year-old Princess of Wales’ wish for privacy, others speculated about what medical issue would require such a lengthy hospital stay and recovery period. For instance, the News observed that the Palace sharing that Kate will likely stay 10 to 14 days in the hospital after her abdominal surgery seems concerning.
And one aspect of the official statement sparked more speculation. “The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.” Because that indicates that Kate planned a series of royal duties and then suddenly received health news that required cancelling those engagements. And although the Palace described her surgery as “planned,” it seems contradictory that she then needed to cancel her appointments.
Prince William Cancels His Own Duties
And adding to the concern, Kate’s husband Prince William suddenly needed to cancel his own appointments. Because royal insiders revealed the need to clear the Princess of Wales’ diary “for several months to allow her proper recovery time,” it seems to indicate a serious illness that impacts Kate as well as William.
With Kate unable to go to back to her royal duties until Easter, William made a commitment to “staying by her side as much as possible and has also cleared many of his forthcoming duties,” shared a source. And William plans to steer clear of “any public duties” amid Kate’s hospital stay. However, he also will not perform any royal duties after she returns home.
As a result, speculation has soared. And Kate has earned a reputation of doing all that she can. For instance, the birth of Prince George saw Kate stay in the hospital for just one night. And the Princess of Wales left the hospital the same day that she checked in for the births of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Even her struggles with hyperemesis gravidarum in 2012 kept Kate in the hospital for just three nights.
