Meghan Markle’s feud with the Royal Family has left her isolated and unpopular, according to sources close to the Duchess of Sussex. The former actress, who signed a contract with a Hollywood agency in April, has reportedly failed to attract any interest from the entertainment industry without her husband Prince Harry by her side.
A source told GB News: “It would seem nobody is that interested in Meghan unless she comes with Harry. The Royal Family is the reason why she’s so well known. That’s why it came as a big surprise to everyone that she burned so many bridges.”
According to GB News, the source added that Meghan has “burnt so many bridges” with the royals, who have been hurt and angered by her public attacks on them. In March 2021, Meghan and Harry gave a bombshell interview to Oprah Winfrey, where they accused an unnamed member of the Royal Family of making racist remarks about their son Archie’s skin color.
They also claimed that they were denied security and support by the institution, and that Meghan felt suicidal during her pregnancy.
In January 2023, Harry published his memoir Spare, where he revealed that he had a physical altercation with his brother Prince William, resulting in his necklace being broken.
He also accused his father King Charles of being cold and distant, and his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II of being out of touch. The book caused a huge rift between Harry and his family, who felt betrayed and humiliated by his revelations.
In October 2023, Meghan and Harry starred in their own Netflix documentary, where they spoke in-depth about the challenges and criticisms they faced as working members of the Royal Family.
They also expressed their dissatisfaction with the media coverage of their lives, and their desire to live a more private and authentic life in California. The documentary was widely seen as a self-indulgent and hypocritical attempt to justify their decision to quit the royal duties and pursue lucrative deals with streaming platforms.
Meghan and Harry have also been criticized for their lavish lifestyle and their lack of environmental awareness. They have been spotted flying on private jets to various destinations, including New York, where they attended a star-studded concert for global citizens, and Barbados, where they enjoyed a romantic getaway at an ultra-luxurious resort.
They have also been seen attending events that promote fossil fuels, such as the Formula One US Grand Prix in Texas, where Harry was a guest of honor.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! Magazine¹: “Neither Harry nor Meghan seem to have much self-awareness, it seems they believe we should do what they say not what they do.”
She also said that the couple are “doing nothing to bridge the gap” with the Royal Family, and that their plans to buy a property in London are unlikely to improve their relationship with the royals.
Meghan is said to want to build a close bond between her children and King Charles, who is reportedly fond of Archie and Lilibet.
However, a source told GB Newsthat Meghan “does not want any more rifts” with the Royal Family, and that she hopes to end the feud soon. The source said: “Meghan knows that she has made mistakes in the past, and she wants to move on from them. She wants her children to grow up knowing their royal heritage, and she wants to be respectful of King Charles’s role as the head of the family.”
