A sad and tragic incident happened in Walsall, where a young girl, only seven years old, was hit by a motorbike and lost her life. This terrible accident took place on Turnstone Road in the Blakenhall area. It happened yesterday, July 27, just after 7 pm.
The police were quick to respond, and they arrested a 14-year-old boy who they suspect was responsible for causing the accident due to dangerous driving. He is currently being held by the police for questioning. They found two bikes near the scene, but they haven’t figured out which one was involved in the accident yet.
When the accident happened, ambulances rushed to the spot to help the little girl. They took her to Birmingham’s Children Hospital, but despite their efforts, she sadly couldn’t survive.
This heartbreaking event has deeply affected the whole community. The police commander of Walsall, Phil Dolby, expressed how shocking and tragic it is. He mentioned that specially-trained officers are providing support to the girl’s family during this difficult time.
The police have been working hard to address the problem of illegal and dangerous bike riding in the area. They recently took around 30 illegally-ridden motorcycles off the roads during their operations. However, they are still witnessing such incidents every day, and they need the community’s help to tackle this issue.
Chief Superintendent Dolby wants to send a clear message to the public, especially to adults who provide these bikes to young people. He said that they share responsibility for the consequences of allowing young ones to ride these bikes. He urged them to stop this practice as it not only causes distress to the community but also poses a great danger.
He encouraged people living in the area to report any illegal bike riding activities they witness. They can do this confidentially by calling the police at 101 or reaching out to CrimeStoppers at 0800 555 111. The police are ready to take action and make the community safer by addressing this problem together.
