Prince Harry’s claims against newspapers accusing them of hacking his phone were dismissed by the High Court. The Duke of Sussex said that the late Queen Elizabeth was part of an agreement in 2012 to avoid taking legal action and protect the royal family from embarrassment. He also said that the Prince of Wales secretly got a lot of money from the newspaper to avoid making his own claim.
Prince Harry asked the High Court for permission to seek compensation, even though it was more than six years since the alleged hacking happened. He said that The Sun and the News of the World hacked his phone before 2012.
But, Mike Graham from TalkTV, criticized Prince Harry for continuing to fight the newspapers in court. Mike said it would only waste money and keep paying lawyers forever.
The newspapers’ company, News Group Newspapers (NGN), was happy with the court’s decision. NGN said it was a big win for them. The court said there was no proof of any secret agreement between Prince Harry, Buckingham Palace, and NGN to stop the claim from being brought too late.
The court also said that Prince Harry’s claims about the hacking were too late to be considered. This means his legal case has become smaller. There will be more hearings to decide what happens next in the case.
