The grooming gangs scandal has been a major topic on social media in recent days, with many asking why the people responsible for handling this issue have not faced any real consequences.
Matt Goodwin, a commentator on GB News, has spoken strongly about this, calling for accountability and action.
He criticized the failure of the police, local councils, and government employees to properly address the issue, pointing out that no one has been jailed for their misconduct in handling these cases.
Goodwin referred to court documents from the Oxford grooming gang trial, describing the details as horrific, yet noted that those in power have either ignored or suppressed the truth for far too long.
He also brought up controversial moments, such as when Labour MP Naz Shah retweeted a post saying abuse victims should “shut their mouths for the good of diversity.” Although Shah later claimed it was an accident, the incident raised concerns about attitudes toward this issue.
Goodwin highlighted how individuals who have tried to speak out about the scandal often face criticism and are labeled as “Islamophobes” or “far-right” by activists and journalists, which discourages others from addressing the problem.
Goodwin also questioned why safeguarding minister Jess Phillips and the Labour Party have shown little interest in launching a national inquiry into the scandal. Despite Labour setting up nearly 70 reviews on various topics since taking office, they seem hesitant to prioritize this issue.
He suggested this reluctance might be tied to political fears about losing votes in areas with large Muslim populations, where the party has faced challenges from independent candidates.
Goodwin pointed out that several key Labour MPs, including Jess Phillips and Wes Streeting, narrowly held onto their seats in recent elections, possibly influencing their decisions on sensitive issues like this one.
In response to these failures, Goodwin called for a full national inquiry to uncover and publicly expose the public officials, police, and judicial figures who failed to act responsibly.
He also suggested deporting foreign nationals involved in these crimes to send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
According to him, only by holding everyone accountable—no matter their position—can the nation begin to heal and protect its most vulnerable citizens.
