10-year-old boy was left hospitalized and nearly killed himself ‘after drinking 6 bottles of the most popular drink in the world’

Ray’s parents explained that their 10-year-old son had been playing outside with his friends after drinking several bottles of a very popular drink. Everything seemed fine at first, but then, Ray suddenly started showing signs that something was seriously wrong.
Just one hour after drinking six bottles of the world’s most popular drink, Ray began to have severe convulsions, shaking uncontrollably. His parents became extremely worried because his condition seemed to get worse very quickly.
His father, Jeff, shared with WIS-TV, “He couldn’t control his head or arms or anything. His motor functions were gone.” However, it’s not clear exactly how large the bottles were that Ray drank.
Doctors later told Ray’s parents that he was very lucky to still be alive. Ray had accidentally suffered from water intoxication, which happens when someone drinks too much water too quickly. In this case, Ray drank six bottles in less than an hour, and the temperature outside was very hot. The combination of these factors caused his body to react badly.
Thankfully, Ray made a full recovery, and his parents are now using their experience to warn others about the dangers of drinking too much water, especially during the hot summer months.
Before the incident, Ray had been very active, running around the house with his cousins and jumping on the trampoline. His mom, Stacy, remembered that after some time, Ray became very thirsty and ran inside to get himself some water. “What we didn’t realize was how much he had drunk,” Stacy said. It wasn’t until later that they discovered Ray had consumed six bottles of water between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.
About an hour after drinking the water, Ray’s father noticed that something was seriously wrong. Ray couldn’t control his body. “It almost seemed like he was on drugs, drunk, or even mentally handicapped,” said Stacy. The family quickly took Ray to the hospital, where doctors ran emergency tests. The tests revealed that Ray had water intoxication, which happens when the kidneys can’t process the large amount of water in the body, causing dangerously low sodium levels in the blood.
This condition can be very dangerous and even life-threatening if not treated. Ray’s doctors worked quickly to treat him by restoring the right balance of sodium and potassium in his blood. After receiving treatment, Ray’s mother remembered that he suddenly woke up, showing signs of improvement. It was a miracle that Ray recovered, and his parents are thankful for the quick response of the medical team.
