A new report says Kate Middleton might not go back to her royal duties like she used to. This news comes after the Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer, received treatment, and spent six months away from the public.
Kate’s last official royal event was in December 2023. She joined the royal family for a church service on Christmas Day, December 25. In January 2024, Kate had surgery and left the hospital two weeks later to recover at home. In March, she made a video where she told everyone she had cancer and was starting treatment.
Kensington Palace says that Kate will not do her royal duties until her doctors say she can. While she is getting better, the other royal family members continue with their public work without her.
A new report by Us Weekly suggests that when Kate comes back, her job might change a lot. Their source says Kate’s team is thinking about what she can do when she returns. The report says, “Kate might never do the same things she did before. Her role might be very different. She is thinking about what her job will look like.
The source also says, “The news that the royals won’t work as much was surprising, but it means Kate and William can spend more time together. They have been getting closer and spending more time together.” After leaving the London Clinic in late January, Kate went to Adelaide Cottage. While she was recovering, she stayed there with Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Us Weekly reports that Kate has now moved to their summer home, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate to continue getting better. Their source says, “They are spending a lot of time as a family there.” With their children soon on summer break, the family plans to enjoy quality time together.
Anmer Hall is a three-hour drive from busy London. The 20,000-acre property includes their home, churches, parishes, and country houses that are part of the royal family. Town & Country magazine says Kate Middleton should return to her royal duties sometime in 2024. Her medical advice keeps changing as she gets better.
In January, Kensington Palace made an official statement saying, “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” which was in late March 2024.
Earlier in March, the palace also said, “The Princess will return to her duties when her medical team says she can. She is in good spirits and focused on making a full recovery.
In May 2024, a senior royal aide said, “We have made it clear that she needs space and privacy to recover. She will return to work when doctors say she can.”
Kate Middleton and Prince William have not officially said when she will go back to work.
