Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have expressed strong dissatisfaction regarding the royal titles of their children, Archie and Lilibet.
According to a report by Daily Express, they are upset because their children are not allowed to use the HRH titles. This restriction was put in place by Queen Elizabeth, who limited the use of HRH titles to working members of the Royal Family only.
Archie and Lilibet, however, can still be called prince and princess. This change occurred after the death of Queen Elizabeth in 2022 and the subsequent ascension of King Charles to the throne.
Before this change, Archie and Lilibet were known simply as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
King Charles issued Letters Patent that granted the Sussex children the titles of prince and princess.
Despite these titles, they are not permitted to use HRH because they are not working royals. This decision has reportedly left Harry and Meghan “furious.” They are concerned about the security implications of not having the HRH title.
A source revealed, “Harry and Meghan were worried about the security issue and being prince and princess brings them the right to have certain levels of royal security.”
“There have been a lot of talks over the past week. They have been insistent that Archie and Lilibet are prince and princess. They have been relentless since the Queen died.
“But they have been left furious that Archie and Lilibet cannot take the title HRH. That is the agreement — they can be prince and princess but not HRH because they are not working royals.”
This ongoing issue highlights the complex dynamics and rules within the British Royal Family, especially concerning titles and their implications.
The situation also underscores the challenges Harry and Meghan face as they navigate their roles within and outside the Royal Family.
The titles of Archie and Lilibet have been a point of contention and discussion, reflecting broader themes of tradition, modernity, and the evolving nature of the monarchy.
This development is just one of many that have captured the public’s attention in the ongoing saga of the Royal Family.
It remains to be seen how these title issues will be resolved and what the future holds for Archie and Lilibet’s roles within the royal framework.
The debate over royal titles is not just about the titles themselves but also about what they represent in terms of duties, responsibilities, and privileges.
As the Royal Family continues to adapt to changes within its ranks and in the broader societal context, the titles of its younger members will likely continue to be a topic of interest and debate.
For now, Harry and Meghan continue to advocate for their children’s right to their titles, amidst the broader challenges and changes facing the Royal Family.
