Prince Harry’s claim that he misses British life has been dismissed as a lie by a royal commentator, who accused him and his wife Meghan Markle of being “spoilt” and “ungrateful”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2020, have been living in California, where they have signed lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify, launched their Archewell Foundation, and published their memoirs.
However, in his book Spare, Harry revealed that he still feels a strong connection to his homeland, and that he hopes to return to the UK more often in the future. He wrote: “I love England. It’s my home. It’s where I was born and raised, and where I served in the military. It’s where I met and married my wife, and where my children were born. It’s where my grandmother is the Queen, and where my family and friends are. I miss it every day.”
According to Gbnews, Harry also claimed that he and Meghan did not want to leave the royal family, but that they were forced to do so by the lack of support and respect they received from the palace, the media, and the public. He wrote: “We didn’t choose to walk away. We were pushed away. We were treated like outsiders, like second-class citizens, like traitors. We were vilified, harassed, and bullied. We were denied our rights, our privacy, and our dignity. We had no choice but to leave, for our own safety and sanity.”
Harry’s words, however, have been met with scepticism and criticism by some royal experts, who have questioned his sincerity and honesty. One of them is Robert Jobson, a royal biographer and author of Endgame, who told GB News that Harry’s claim of missing British life was a “lie”, and that he and Meghan were “spoilt” and “ungrateful”. He said: “Harry is lying. He doesn’t miss British life at all. He loves his new life in America, where he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, with whoever he wants. He loves the fame, the money, and the attention he gets there. He doesn’t care about his duties, his responsibilities, or his heritage. He has turned his back on his country, his family, and his people.”
Jobson also said that Harry and Meghan were “spoilt” and “ungrateful”, and that they had “betrayed” the royal family and the British public, who had supported them for years. He said: “Harry and Meghan are spoilt.
They have everything they could ever want, and more. They have a beautiful home, a loving family, a loyal fan base, and a global platform. They have been given opportunities, privileges, and honors that most people can only dream of. And yet, they are not happy. They are not satisfied. They are not grateful. They are always complaining, always demanding, always suing. They have betrayed the royal family, who have done so much for them. They have betrayed the British public, who have welcomed them, cheered them, and defended them. They have betrayed their own country, which they have insulted, embarrassed, and abandoned.”
