Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just finished a disappointing year financially. And apparently the Duke of Sussex and Duchess of Sussex tried to understand why no huge companies have courted them and pleaded to pay the couple millions in exchange for their endorsements.
But after a crisis meeting, Harry And Meghan now think they know the reason. And as revealed below, the couple has decided that the royal family has taken the time to block all those big brand deals they assumed they would get.
Prince Harry Hatches ‘Vendetta’ Theory
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry just met with their team to review a year packed with financial failures.
For instance, reports that Dior would pay the Duchess of Sussex and Duke of Sussex huge amounts of money to endorse the designer brand proved wrong. And their podcasts failed.
As a result, Meghan and Harry have met with their high profile talent agency WME for crisis talks. And as the couple considered how their dreams of brand partnerships turned into a nightmare string of failures, the Duchess and Duke of Sussex complained that the royal family has waged a “vendetta” against them, per Deadline.
But an insider offered some details about how Harry and Meghan came up with this concept that the royal family seeks revenge by blocking potential deals. And according to the source, the fact that Dior didn’t choose the couple to endorse the designer brand remains a sore point.
Dior Disappoints Duke And Duchess
Prince Harry and Meghan did make money for their Netflix documentary series and the Duke of Sussex profited from his memoir Spare. But the couple became involved in meetings “with high profile brands that didn’t lead to anything but should have done. Those brands then actively courted other members” of the royal family, revealed a source.
And the insider noted, “Both Harry and Meghan often wore Dior and were at one point huge fans of the brand. Harry wore a [Dior] suit to the Coronation and the Sussexes were starting to build up their partnership with the fashion house.”
However, Dior then turned its focus to the real royal family, such as Queen Camilla. And ultimately, the designer brand chose a new face. “To add salt to the wounds, the actress playing Kate Middleton [in The Crown‘s final series on Netflix] was announced as the new face of the brand. It was all very suspicious timing,” the insider said in reflecting how Meghan and Harry feel.
Sussex Squad Looks To 2024
And although Meghan signed with WME in April 2023, no new projects have resulted. But she and Harry did face humiliation when their $20 million contract with Spotify ended. And exec Bill Simmons famously called the couple “grifters.”
As a result, Meghan and Harry’s “team doesn’t appear to know what to do at this point.” But they do think that the Duchess of Sussex and Duke of Sussex could turn around their problems if they make amends to the royal family. “The consensus now is to try and repair the damage done to the Royal Family and hope that link will help them out of the doldrums,” shared the source.
