Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are setting their sights on 2024 for a “year of redemption”, according to sources close to the royal couple.
According to a report by Express, after facing several setbacks professionally and personally in 2023, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hope to leverage their enduring popularity to ink lucrative new deals and repair relationships.
“Harry and Meghan are in extremely high demand,” a source told Us Weekly. “They’ve actually been shocked by how popular she is. Her team has never seen anything like it.”
Indeed, despite controversies surrounding their Netflix documentary series “Harry & Meghan” and other projects, public intrigue in the couple remains sky-high. Their production company Archewell Audio may have prematurely ended its exclusive partnership with Spotify this year, but Meghan is still fielding “offers left and right” according to insiders.
The Sussexes are reportedly considering a move from their Montecito home to Los Angeles in 2024. The relocation would place them in closer proximity to the entertainment industry as they plot Meghan’s potential return to acting. She previously starred in the hit legal drama “Suits” before becoming a member of the British royal family through her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry.
At a “Power of Women” gala in Los Angeles this fall alongside Hollywood elite, Meghan, 42 teased “so many exciting things on the slate”. She told reporters, “I can’t wait until we can announce them.”
While few details have emerged about potential film or television projects in development, Archewell Productions does have several series in the works for Netflix as part of the Sussexes’ multi-year deal with the streaming giant. First announced in 2020 shortly after the couple stepped back from royal duties, their Netflix partnership has yielded mixed results so far but remains ongoing.
Beyond show business, the Sussexes are also reportedly exploring ways to revive interest in their non-profit Archewell Foundation in 2024. After donations dropped nearly $9 million this year according to public filings, Meghan is said to be “laser-focused” on realigning charity efforts going forward. Building upon Prince Harry’s globally popular Invictus Games for wounded veterans, the foundation may shift focus to their passions for mental health initiatives and empowering diverse communities.
Reconciliation could also be a theme in 2024. Despite bombshell claims levied in Prince Harry’s headline-grabbing memoir “Spare” earlier this year, he recently expressed a desire for peace with his estranged brother Prince William and father King Charles III.
“There have been talks held with high profile brands that didn’t lead to anything but should have,” a separate insider suggested, speculating whether the British royal family has worked behind-the-scenes to stifle commercial opportunities for the exiled Duke and Duchess.
But with productive 2024 talks already underway, the Sussexes remain optimistic for a rebound year capitalizing on their enduring fame. As one source said, “The way they see it, they’re choosing quality over quantity
