Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly feeling anxious about the upcoming release of a tell-all book by Kate Middleton’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith.
According to a report by Mirroronline, the book, which is expected to reveal “private family details” and defend the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge against the Sussexes’ accusations, could cause further damage to the already strained relations between the two couples.
According to a royal insider, Harry and Meghan are “dreading” the book’s release and fear that it will contain more criticism of their actions and motives. The source told OK! Magazine² that Harry did not anticipate such a “comeback” from Kate’s family and that he and Meghan “won’t like it one bit”.
Goldsmith, who is the younger brother of Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, first announced his plans to write a memoir in 2013, after amassing a £30 million fortune through his IT recruitment business. At the time, he said he would not reveal any secrets that might embarrass his royal niece or her husband, but it seems he has changed his mind since then.
The 58-year-old businessman has been vocal in his criticism of Harry and Meghan in recent months, especially after their explosive Netflix docuseries and Harry’s book Spare, both of which dropped several bombshells about the royal family. Goldsmith accused the Sussexes of being “disrespectful” and “selfish” and said they should “shut the F up” and “get on with your lives”.
He also praised William and Kate for being “dignified” and “classy” in the face of the Sussexes’ attacks and said they have been “pushed closer together” as a result. He claimed that Harry and Meghan have lost the respect and support of the British public and that they should stop playing the “victim card”.
Goldsmith is not the only member of Kate’s family who has spoken out in defence of the Cambridges. Her sister, Pippa Middleton, also reportedly slammed Harry and Meghan for their “unnecessary” and “hurtful” comments about the royal family. She said she was “shocked” and “disappointed” by their behaviour and that they should have kept their grievances private.
The book by Goldsmith, which is yet to be titled, is expected to be released later this year or early next year. It is unclear whether he has consulted with William and Kate before writing it or whether he has their approval. However, it is likely that the book will cause more tension and controversy within the royal family and among their fans.
