A woman is in the hospital fighting for her life after she fell from a bridge. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene in Smethwick after concerns were raised about her well-being.
This morning, she was seen on a bridge near Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick. Paramedics immediately transported her to the hospital in critical condition following the fall.
The incident caused traffic in the area, leading to delays for drivers. Initially, Tollhouse Way was closed in both directions between Telford Way and Rolfe Street.
However, Tollhouse Way has since been reopened. According to a spokesperson from West Midlands Police, they received a call regarding a woman on a bridge near High Street, Smethwick this morning (June 24). The woman fell from the bridge and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
According to the traffic monitoring system Inrix, they reported the following at the time: “A457 Tollhouse Way is closed in both directions, and there is slow traffic due to a police incident between A4252 Telford Way and B4135 Rolfe Street. There is congestion up to St. Paul’s Road as traffic seeks alternate routes.”
