Local authorities in Bordeaux, France, have announced the arrest of an individual following an assault on a 73-year-old woman and her young granddaughter. The incident, captured on a doorbell camera and widely shared online, resulted in the woman being admitted to the hospital. Fortunately, her condition is now stable, and her injuries are not life-threatening, as reported by Le Parisien.
Law enforcement authorities credited the swift apprehension of the suspect to the distribution of the video and statements provided by witnesses. The arrested individual has a history of 15 previous convictions and is already known to the police.
Expressing his deep concern, Mayor Pierre Hurmic of Bordeaux stated that he was “extremely shocked” upon watching the footage of the attack. He emphasized that the solutions to such issues are not straightforward and should not be reduced to finding scapegoats. Rather than joining the chorus of outrage, Mayor Hurmic emphasized the need for a thoughtful approach to address the underlying problems.
