A thief who broke into a house, stole a car, and left his blood at the crime scene has been sent to prison.
A man named John Wilson, 39 years old, unlawfully entered a home on Sandfield Road, Arnold, on April 11, 2023. He searched the house in a messy way and took a jewelry box, a purse, two sets of car keys, and a car parked in the driveway.
However, detectives investigating the burglary managed to connect Wilson to the crime because they found traces of his blood on a stairgate. It is believed that he injured himself while breaking a glass door to enter the house.
Wilson, who lives on Labray Road, Calverton, was arrested on May 9 and was found guilty of burglary and taking a car without the owner’s permission. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on May 31.
Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher, from Nottinghamshire Police, stated, “Burglaries are very unpleasant and invasive crimes, so it is good news when we can put a criminal like Wilson behind bars. We conducted a thorough investigation that linked him to the crime scene. This is why our police force has dedicated teams of detectives for the city and county areas, allowing us to respond to every home burglary. These teams focus on apprehending burglars like Wilson, preventing burglaries, and supporting victims.”
