A distressing incident occurred at New Street Station in Birmingham involving a man who bravely confronted two individuals suspected of stealing bikes. The man, named Bilal Baig, was using a tunnel where people drop off their belongings when he noticed something suspicious happening near the bike racks. Two men, both wearing hoodies and sunglasses, caught his attention as they swiftly cut through the bike locks using a tool resembling an angle grinder.
Driven by curiosity and a sense of justice, Mr. Baig approached the men and inquired about their activities. However, instead of providing an explanation, the thieves responded in an aggressive manner, swearing at him and brandishing the dangerous cutter as a threat. Naturally concerned for his safety, Mr. Baig feared that they might resort to violence with the menacing tool. The incident, which occurred on a Saturday around 1pm on June 3, was fortunately captured on video by Mr. Baig.
In a swift escape, the audacious thieves mounted a stolen bicycle and an electric scooter, fleeing the scene before anyone could intervene. The audacity of their actions shocked Mr. Baig, especially considering it all happened in broad daylight, right in front of other people at the station. Determined to seek justice, he wasted no time in reporting the incident to the local authorities, specifically the West Midlands Police.
The police promptly responded to the report and launched an investigation into the theft. Additional reports emerged from witnesses, further reinforcing the seriousness of the situation. According to these reports, an electric scooter and a bicycle were stolen on Navigation Street, adding weight to Mr. Baig’s account. The West Midlands Police are actively pursuing the case, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in their efforts.
