Kerry Katona has disclosed that Phillip Schofield apologized to her following a remark he made during her appearance on This Morning. Kerry’s infamous interview on the show back in 2008, where she was accused of being drunk, still lingers in memory. At the time, there were allegations of her being intoxicated due to her slurred speech.
During the interview, Phillip, alongside co-host Fern Britton, publicly confronted Kerry about her condition, stating, “If I’m honest with you now, you don’t seem right sitting here now.” He further commented, “You’ve got the body sorted but your speech is a bit slurred.” Kerry vehemently denied being under the influence and attributed her slurred speech to her bipolar medication from the previous night.
Phillip persistently probed, questioning her about the timing and details of her medication, causing Kerry to disclose her prescription and dosage on live TV. Kerry expressed concern that the situation would turn into a massive publicity spectacle.
Reflecting on the incident 15 years later, as Phillip steps down from This Morning amid rumors, Kerry revealed that he eventually apologized to her.
In her recent Ok! Magazine column, she mentioned, “He apologized to me after pointing out that I was slurring my words on the show back in 2008, and we’ve been on good terms since then.” However, Kerry stated that while she no longer holds a grudge against Phil, she believes it’s time for new presenters on the show.
“When you’re watching the show, you want to believe in their [Holly and Phillip’s] relationship, don’t you?” Kerry commented. She suggested that a return of Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford could potentially revive the show’s appeal.
