King Charles probably won’t take away Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Sussex titles, according to an expert on the royal family. In 2020, Harry and Meghan decided to step back from their royal duties and move to the United States. They have been living there with their two children, Archie (who is four years old) and Lilibet (who is one year old).
Even though they are no longer working as senior members of the royal family, Harry and Meghan have kept their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Some people have called for them to lose these titles, but the expert believes that they will likely keep them.
The expert, Grant Harrold, used to work for King Charles and Queen Camilla from 2004 to 2011. He said, “I think it’s best to just let things be and not take away Harry’s title. Right now, there isn’t a good enough reason to do it. Also, the Queen gave Harry that title as a gift, so it would be like taking away something that his mother gave him. I don’t think Charles will do that.”
King Charles became the king on May 6 in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Harry flew from California to be there, but Meghan stayed home with their children. A body language expert noticed that Harry looked nervous and uncomfortable when he arrived at the Abbey alone. The expert said that Harry seemed like he didn’t fit in and was feeling sad and uneasy. However, Princess Eugenie, who is another member of the royal family, made an effort to make Harry feel included and welcomed him.
Overall, it seems that right now there isn’t a strong reason for King Charles to take away Harry’s title. So it’s likely that Harry and Meghan will continue to be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
