Kate is not expected to resume public duties until after Easter, according to an official statement. Prince William has canceled some royal engagements to care for their three children: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (eight), and Prince Louis (five).
The Prince of Wales will prioritize his family during the immediate period following Kate’s return home. Any planned royal tours, including their upcoming trip to Rome, have been canceled. Kensington Palace released a statement saying, “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
The statement emphasized Kate’s desire for privacy regarding her medical information and her hope that the public will understand her wish to maintain normalcy for her children. Kensington Palace will only provide updates on her progress when there is significant new information to share.
