King Charles and Prince Harry ‘reconciliation’ as ‘most hated royal figure’ tipped to quit
There are growing talks that Sir Clive Alderton, one of King Charles’ most trusted aides, may soon leave his role. This has sparked hope among experts that it might help repair the strained bond between King Charles and his youngest son, Prince Harry.
Sir Clive Alderton, 57, has been a central figure in the royal household for nearly two decades, working closely with both Charles and Queen Camilla.
However, he’s not exactly popular with Harry. In Harry’s memoir Spare, he nicknamed Sir Clive “The Wasp,” claiming that while he appeared polite, he had a sharp and manipulative side. Harry wrote that Sir Clive had a way of pretending to be humble but could suddenly “sting” with unexpected comments or actions.
Now, there’s speculation that Sir Clive may step down. Some experts think this could open the door for King Charles and Prince Harry to finally resolve their differences. Tina Brown, a well-known royal author, mentioned in her blog that she heard from a source about Sir Clive’s possible retirement plans. She believes a change in staff could help create a better atmosphere for the King and Harry to talk openly.
There are also rumors that Sir Clive might take on a prestigious new job. According to royal correspondent Emily Andrew, he is being considered for a US ambassador role under the President.
This job would require him to use his diplomatic skills, especially with former President Donald Trump returning to office this month. Alternatively, he might simply be ready to retire after nearly 20 years of service to the royal family.
Some experts believe Sir Clive’s departure could be a turning point. They argue that since he has played a big role in managing the relationship between Charles and Harry, his exit might make reconciliation more likely. Without Sir Clive in the mix, there could be less tension, allowing father and son to work through their issues.
In Spare, Harry also described his rocky relationship with his father and older brother, Prince William. Things became more strained when Harry and his wife Meghan Markle decided to step back from royal duties and move to America in 2020. The couple now lives in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
Since their move, Harry’s relationship with the royal family has remained distant. He and Meghan have made public comments about their struggles with royal life, which has only added to the tension.
Harry is rumored to be visiting the UK next month, but it’s unclear if he plans to meet with his family during the trip. Many hope that Sir Clive’s possible exit and Harry’s return could pave the way for some healing within the family. Experts say that removing barriers like Sir Clive might make it easier for the King and Harry to start rebuilding their relationship.
