Jayne Senior, who helped uncover the Rotherham abuse scandal, has accused Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer of ignoring her struggles with bullying.
GB News revealed that Senior, a whistleblower in the grooming gangs case, wrote to Starmer in 2020 about facing harassment, but she says he never responded personally.
Senior, honored with an MBE in 2016, was a Labour councillor and had worked with abuse victims since 1999. Despite her efforts, she faced a “politically motivated witch hunt” from council officials. The council later apologized for misleading her during an investigation into her charity work.
Reports showed over 1,400 children were abused in Rotherham by gangs between 1997 and 2013. This led to resignations in the council and police leadership. However, Senior claims hostility from Labour Party members continued, undermining her achievements and damaging her reputation.
In response to her letter, Starmer’s office declined to arrange a meeting and instead provided an online form for complaints. Senior resigned as a councillor in 2021, feeling neglected by the party. She stated, “I wasn’t even worth a call or a meeting.”
The Labour Party said all complaints are handled independently of Starmer’s office and follow proper procedures. This controversy adds to recent criticism of the party over its handling of grooming gang inquiries.
