An Albanian man, convicted of burglary, shared a video of himself celebrating New Year’s Eve by smoking a shisha pipe and watching a belly dancer, along with a cheerful New Year message.
Dorian Puka, 28, who has been jailed and deported twice from the UK for burglary, is currently in the UK claiming asylum and awaiting a decision from an immigration tribunal. This means he cannot be deported until his case is reviewed, which could take months or even years.
In the video, Puka is seen at a London nightclub smoking shisha while a fire-breathing belly dancer performs. He ended the clip with an image of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, wishing everyone a happy New Year.
Puka has also posted videos on social media driving a £300,000 Ferrari around London and showing off expensive items, including Rolex watches and luxury cars. He even mocked UK authorities and politician Nigel Farage, prompting Farage to call him a “wrong ‘un” who was taking advantage of the system.
In the past, Puka was jailed for nine months in 2016 after being caught attempting a burglary. He was deported in 2017 but managed to return to the UK illegally, committing more burglaries before being caught and jailed again for three-and-a-half years. He was deported again in 2020 but later returned and claimed asylum.
While in prison, Puka used a smuggled phone to post pictures online, including one with a crime group leader. He is now on immigration bail with an electronic tag as his asylum claim is processed.
A Home Office spokesperson stated that foreign criminals should expect the law to be enforced and noted that Puka had been deported before. However, the UK cannot deport individuals with pending claims. The spokesperson also mentioned increased efforts to remove people with no right to stay in the UK, with 3,000 deportations since the current government took office.
