The news that Sadiq Khan will receive a knighthood has shocked many Londoners, especially those living in Uxbridge and South Ruislip. As someone who has actively opposed Khan’s policies, it’s hard to understand why he’s being honored, considering his record as Mayor of London.
Let’s look at what happened with Uxbridge Police Station. Khan announced its closure in 2017, which led to a six-year campaign by local Conservatives to keep it open. During the 2023 Uxbridge by-election, Khan made a surprising U-turn, promising to reopen the station. However, this promise was never kept, and the station remains closed, leaving a significant gap in local policing.
Khan has also faced criticism for expanding the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to outer London. This policy has negatively impacted hardworking families and small businesses, who see it as a punitive tax on those who can’t afford newer vehicles. In Uxbridge, residents overwhelmingly rejected the ULEZ expansion, but Khan pushed forward anyway, disregarding the voices of Londoners.
Traditionally, knighthoods are awarded for exceptional service to the nation. However, Khan’s tenure has been marked by rising crime, poor housing delivery, and contentious transport policies. While he may have gained international attention for his progressive views, his leadership of London has been disappointing.
Honors should recognize tangible achievements that benefit the public, not reward politicians who impose harmful policies while ignoring the concerns of those they serve. For many Londoners, Khan’s legacy is one of frustration and disappointment. A knighthood may improve his reputation in some circles, but for many residents, it doesn’t change the reality of his time in office. It’s time for leaders to be held accountable for their actions, not rewarded despite their failures.
If this man get a knight hood then millions of English speaking Christian followers will be deeply upset and it will make a mockery of the whole process and may even start unrest on the streets of what used to be a very special capital city.?
Rewarded for failure, Khan getting a knighthood is an absolute disgrace, if there was a man less worthy of a knighthood, I’d be very surprised. Starmer is a complete idiot, he needs arresting for treason.
