Prince William has made a thoughtful decision by not traveling to the U.S., avoiding any conflict with his younger brother, Prince Harry. Both brothers had events in New York, but William chose to stay away to prevent overshadowing Harry’s trip.
William, the Prince of Wales, decided not to attend the Climate Week event in person, where he was expected to reveal the finalists for the 2024 Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit. Instead, he shared the announcement through a pre-recorded video, showing support for his brother by staying out of the spotlight.
Michael Bloomberg, a billionaire and supporter of the Earthshot Prize, spoke at the event in William’s place. The Earthshot Prize, started by William in 2010, focuses on finding new ideas to help solve major environmental problems.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry is also in New York, working on causes that are important to him. He arrived in the city alone, while his wife Meghan Markle remained in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Earthshot Prize finalists were chosen from nearly 2,500 entries from 139 countries, making this the largest selection process yet. The five winners will be revealed in Cape Town, South Africa, on November 6.
