A transgender dad named Kayden Coleman has shared his story about finding out he was pregnant while he was in the middle of transitioning.
Despite facing death threats and harsh criticism, Some people accused him of sharing his pregnancy journey just for attention.
Kayden is a proud single dad from the US with two daughters, Azealia and Journee. His journey hasn’t been easy. In March 2013, when he was 36, he was scheduled to have surgery on his chest.
The doctors told him to stop taking his hormone treatment for six weeks before the surgery. After the surgery, he found out he was over five months pregnant.
He shared his surprise on TikTok, where he has over 2.9 million likes, and spoke about his shock and feeling unprepared on YouTube’s Truly TV.
Now, his daughters are growing up to be confident and smart. Kayden had to deal with a lot of challenges in medical settings and face discrimination because he is transgender.
Kayden loves shoes and fashion. He decided to share his story on social media during his pregnancy with Azealia because he didn’t see any other black trans men who were pregnant being represented.
Since sharing his story, he has faced a lot of negativity, including threats from people saying they would call Child Protective Services (CPS) on him.
Kayden, who works in education, realized he was transgender when he was about 19 years old. Before he transitioned, he felt out of place with himself. Over time, as he transitioned, his style changed, and he became more comfortable, promoting body positivity.
Kayden has always been open with his daughters about his transgender identity. Azealia, being older, understands more about it now.
Kayden has faced a lot of criticism, with some people saying his children should be taken away from him and accusing him of depriving them of a mother.
He explained that while his daughters don’t have someone they call “mom,” they do have motherly figures in their lives. Despite receiving death threats and being called names like “demon” and “abomination,” he has also received a lot of support from others.
Kayden wants to teach his children to love themselves and be happy. He also wants other transgender parents to know that they deserve to have a family.
His online community has shown him a lot of support. His message to other transgender parents is that they are deserving of a loving family.
