Kate and Meghan, the Princess of Wales and Duchess of Sussex, aren’t close friends. They first met in 2016 when Meghan and Harry started dating. Although their relationship didn’t immediately flourish, Kate has always maintained a polite and professional demeanor.
When a family member publicly criticized Meghan, Kate was reportedly “horrified” and decided to distance herself from that relative. Kate wants to ensure that people don’t think she is causing any problems. Known for staying out of controversies and scandals, Kate has a reputation for being the least controversial member of the royal family.
Earlier this year, Kate’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK, which raised some eyebrows. His comments about Meghan, including a suggestion that Harry and Meghan should lose their royal titles, did not sit well with Kate and the rest of the family. As a result, they have distanced themselves from Gary. A source told Express that Gary’s appearance on the show was not welcomed, and although he was surprised by the reaction, there has been some distancing. Gary is now spending time in Ibiza to let things cool down.
Kate’s upset is understandable since she has avoided making any public comments about Harry and Meghan. The issues between the Wales and Sussex couples are mostly due to the problems between Harry and Prince William, rather than between Kate and Meghan.
During Meghan and Harry’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan described Kate as “a good person” and didn’t say much else about her. While Meghan and Kate aren’t friends, there doesn’t seem to be any deep animosity between them. They have become entangled in their husbands’ disputes. It’s unlikely that Meghan and Kate will ever be close, but they can coexist. Kate’s displeasure with her uncle’s comments is reasonable given her stance on maintaining a respectful public image.
