Kate Middleton is very famous worldwide, but King Charles once wanted her to change the spelling of her name because of a conflict.
The Princess of Wales, commonly known as Kate, was asked to change the spelling of her name by King Charles and Queen Camilla. Although people know her as Kate, her real name is Catherine, which is what the Royal Family, including her husband Prince William, call her.
Prince Harry mentioned in his memoir Spare that King Charles and Queen Camilla suggested she spell her name with a K instead of a C. This suggestion was made to avoid confusion since there were already two royal cyphers with the letter C for Charles and Camilla.
Harry wrote: “There were already two royal cyphers with a C and a crown above: Charles and Camilla. It would be too confusing to have another. Make it Katherine with a K, they suggested. I wondered now what came of that suggestion.” He recalled looking at his brother William when they heard the proposal, but William showed no reaction.
Despite this request, Kate reportedly has a good relationship with both Charles and Camilla, who see her as an important figure for the monarchy.
Recently, it was announced that King Charles will resume his public duties soon. A Royal expert explained that this is good news not only for him and Queen Camilla but also for key royals like Prince William and Princess Kate.
Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK! that this news will be a relief for William, as it means less pressure on him to be constantly in the public eye while caring for his young family.
Jennie added that Kate will also feel relieved, as the King’s return to duties allows her and William more flexibility to spend time with their family without feeling anxious about their public roles.
