This is the moment police boarded a Ryanair flight to remove three ‘drunk’ holidaymakers after the pilot turned the plane around and flew back to Edinburgh. The dramatic footage shows an officer asking the sheepish-looking men to identify their hand luggage before taking it out of the overhead holders.
The flight was supposed to reach Lanzarote just before 7 PM local time yesterday but ended up turning back to its starting point when it was over South Ayrshire. One passenger shared, “It was obvious before we left that one of them who was next to me was drunk. He stank of alcohol and was vaping without any qualms.”
After the plane took off, the men started shouting in English and produced an almost empty bottle of vodka, which an air stewardess promptly confiscated along with the e-cigarette. A Spanish woman on board said they were kept waiting on the tarmac for around an hour without water after police removed the three men, before taking off again and landing in Lanzarote around 11:15 PM.
This incident is not an isolated case. In April, a holidaymaker was arrested for allegedly being abusive and attacking passengers on a flight from Tenerife to Edinburgh. Additionally, in February, two men were filmed fighting and spitting at each other on a Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife. The chaotic scenes ended when local police escorted the disruptive passengers away after landing in Tenerife.
