This is the shocking moment caught on CCTV when a vandal was seen smashing a taxi early in the morning in Birmingham. The footage shows him getting into another taxi and leaving the scene.
A parked Toyota Corolla GR Sport hybrid was targeted on Edmund Road in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham. The car’s alarm went off, and five expensive windows were broken, causing over £1,000 in damage.
This happened at around 7:30 am yesterday, Thursday, July 4.
The damaged car belongs to Rozzii, a taxi hire company based in Hockley. West Midlands Police are investigating the incident. The company’s chief executive, Jameel Malik, told BirminghamLive, “The car that was damaged was rented out to a driver.
Someone came and smashed the windows and the back window of that car. After that, he got into a taxi. We’re trying to figure out why this happened, but we don’t understand it. He used something to break the windows.”
Mr. Malik added, “When things like this happen, our insurance costs go up a lot. They were already very high.”
There are also reports that another car on the same street was vandalized around the same time, but this has not been confirmed.
A police spokesman told BirminghamLive, “We were informed about a car being deliberately damaged on Edmund Road, Birmingham, just after 7:30 am today, July 4.”
