Police are investigating a shocking video showing a female prison officer having sex with an inmate at HMP Wandsworth.

The video shows the officer in uniform performing a sex act on a prisoner. The footage, which appears to be recent, then captures the officer and the prisoner having sex while another inmate films the act on a mobile phone.

The cell where this took place is shown to be cluttered with clothes and a TV on. The inmate filming the incident comments on the situation, saying it’s historic and portrays the conditions at Wandsworth.

Former security head Vanessa Frake condemned the incident, calling it a disgrace to the prison service. The Prison Service has reported the officer to the police, stressing that staff corruption is not tolerated. The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are investigating the video and are in contact with the Ministry of Justice. So far, no arrests have been made.

Ian Acheson, a former prison governor, expressed serious concerns about security at the prison, noting that such incidents reflect deeper issues within the prison system. He emphasized that this kind of behavior undermines the authority of the prison and poses significant security risks.

This is not an isolated incident. Similar cases have occurred in other prisons, highlighting a pattern of inappropriate relationships between prison staff and inmates. Over 80 prison staff have been disciplined for such affairs since 2013. HMP Wandsworth, one of the oldest prisons in the UK, has faced numerous issues, including overcrowding, drug use, and poor conditions. A recent report found that the prison was in a state of disarray, with significant security concerns and high levels of staff burnout.
