Kate Middleton is losing her hair and weight because she is fighting a type of cancer that hasn’t been made public. Since she had surgery at The London Clinic in February, she hasn’t been seen in public.
The Princess of Wales shared her diagnosis and asked everyone to respect her and her family’s privacy as she starts treatment for this illness. It seems the disease is having a very strong impact on her.
“Kate and William are going through a very tough time behind palace walls,” a senior royal insider told the National Enquirer. The source added that the royal couple is trying hard to keep Kate’s illness a secret from their three children.
However, the insider noted that it’s becoming harder to hide the truth from Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who are all under 10 years old, as Kate’s condition worsens.
Kate Middleton has started chemotherapy, which can have harsh side effects like nausea, vomiting, hair loss, tiredness, and a higher risk of infections due to low white blood cell counts. Other possible side effects include mucositis, which causes painful mouth sores, and digestive issues like diarrhea or constipation. Neuropathy, which causes numbness, tingling, or pain in the hands and feet, can also happen.
It’s not clear if Kate has any or all of these symptoms, but it could make things very difficult for her as she fights this illness and continues her role as the future Queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth.
Prince William supports his wife
Since Prince William learned about his father and wife’s cancer diagnoses, he has been a strong support for his wife. He has taken on more responsibilities than ever and sometimes steps back from them to ensure he can take care of her.
He is partly motivated by the trauma from the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997.
His determination to care for his wife may also stem from the fact that he was only 15 when he lost his mother, just four years older than his youngest son, Prince Louis, will be in June.
Regardless, Prince William has been prioritizing his family over his royal duties whenever possible. According to a royal insider, “He’s trying to be Kate’s rock while also taking care of the kids and still performing official duties. This is uncharted territory for them both.”
The source added, “He’s been cutting back on travel and doing more remote engagements, making it clear that Kate and the children come first.”
