There has been a lot of discussion and speculation surrounding Meghan Markle’s recent visit to Nigeria. It seems that she was very keen to visit the country, and some believe that she may have intended to upset her brother-in-law, Prince William. Social media is abuzz with claims that Meghan is trying to outdo Prince William in Africa.
Previously, Prince William had expressed his frustration over the popularity of his brother, Prince Harry, in Africa. According to Harry’s book, “Spare,” William wanted Harry to do less charity work on the continent to avoid being overshadowed.
Meghan’s visit to Nigeria saw her make some notable comments. She expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she and her husband had received in the country, referring to Nigeria as “my country.” The Duchess of Sussex also made a comment about needing to wear more color to fit in with the locals’ incredible fashion.
These remarks may have upset Prince William, who has worked hard to build his own connections in Africa. Hearing Meghan refer to Nigeria as “her country” could be particularly frustrating for him. Nonetheless, Nigerians have warmly welcomed Meghan, treating her almost as if she were the next queen of England.
