A new report have emerged that Prince Harry has issued a desperate seven-word plea to his wife Meghan Markle regarding their expected trip to the UK next month: “I don’t want to do this alone.”
Express reported that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been anticipated to attend the 10th anniversary service for the Invictus Games at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8th. However, there is now uncertainty over whether Meghan will join Harry, as she reportedly has concerns about the safety of bringing their children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK.
“It’s now got to the point where Meghan doesn’t want to come to the UK with the children. She just doesn’t feel safe,” an insider told New magazine. “The situation is now about whether the family should attend with increased security or Harry should go it alone.”
This potential solo trip for Harry comes despite his expressed desire for the whole family to make regular visits to the UK to reconnect with the royals. The source stated, “Harry doesn’t want to keep making solo trips to the UK. He would prefer it if the entire family made regular visits to see his family and build bridges.”
However, the source added that “there is so much going on behind the scenes that it just isn’t possible at the moment” for the whole Sussex family to attend events like the Invictus ceremony.
The rift between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family has deepened since Harry and Meghan’s move to the US in 2020 and their subsequent revelations in their Netflix series and Harry’s memoir Spare.
Yet with King Charles and Princess Kate both currently battling cancer, Harry is said to be keener than ever to reconcile with his family. As reported by New magazine, “Harry is keen to go and visit both the King and Kate when he comes to the UK, but he knows it will be a difficult task to get Meghan to join him.”
The couple have reportedly reached out to Kate privately and are “very upset” about the health issues facing the royals. However, Harry is torn between supporting his family and being there for Meghan, who the source says “has been through a lot” herself.
Complicating matters further is Harry’s recent loss of his UK taxpayer-funded security after the Home Office upheld the decision to remove his royal protection officers when he stepped back from royal duties.
While the date and details of the Sussexes’ potential Invictus appearance were made public, Meghan reportedly “started to rethink that idea” of joining Harry due to security concerns
According to royal expert Charles Rae, “I’m of the opinion that Meghan won’t set foot in the UK ever again. I just don’t think she wants to have anything to do with this country whatsoever.”
Only time will tell if Harry’s emotional plea to his wife is successful in persuading her to join him for this high-profile UK visit next month.
