A 6-year-old boy who was seriously injured when he was struck in the head with a baseball bat in Georgetown, Texas, is showing better progress, according to his father.

On September 11th, Jeremy was in bed at around 5 a.m. when a neighbor, 39-year-old Daniel Logan, allegedly broke into their home and attacked him with the bat. Logan also tried to attack Jeremy’s parents, Yilin and Arturo, and struck his own mother, Cynthia, with the bat when she tried to intervene

In an update on their GoFundMe page, Arturo shared that Jeremy remains in critical care as of Friday. However, he mentioned that the boy has made “unexpected progress” from initial expectations and is now stable. Doctors have started considering removing him from the ventilator, as it seems he may no longer need it. Jeremy has also shown movement in his limbs.

“It’s been two weeks, and the unexpected progress from Jeremy’s initial expectations to where he is now are night and day, and we are grateful, considering that he was very active before the horrifying event slowed him down,” Arturo wrote.

“He remains in critical care, as is the case for the type of injury, but he is stable, and we are grateful for the progress he continues to show—he’s a warrior and I, a proud Papa.”

Daniel Logan was arrested immediately and has been charged with injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member, both of which are first-degree felonies. The motive for the attack is still under investigation.
