In a talktv interview, Robert Oulds talked about his concerns regarding lots of illegal immigrants in the United Kingdom. He thinks this might cause problems, especially with jobs and helping people who need it.
Oulds said, “Yes, there will be jobs for them without protection from unions. This can be a problem because it affects how the UK helps people and how they work. Some people who are already working might have to work for less money if more people come and work for very little. They work hard, though. That’s why they come here.”
Oulds thinks it’s more important to help the people who already live in the UK. He said, “We should give them the skills they need and pay them fairly instead of bringing in more people for cheap labor. Some people call this ‘social dumping,’ and it worries people who care about fair wages and good working conditions.”
Oulds also said that this could change how communities stick together and make rents go up, especially in places like London.
Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, also talked about how communities are changing in London because of this, and it could change the country in the long run.
Oulds said that even though the UK is known for being less racist than other places in Europe, it can’t keep letting in lots of immigrants. England, in particular, has a lot of people, and this is making it hard to find homes, schools, and everything else people need.
To sum it up, Oulds thinks we need to think really carefully about how having so many immigrants might affect jobs, wages, how we live together, and how our country works. He believes it might be time to change the rules about letting in people from other countries.
Illegal immigrants are not a threat to community cohesion. Austerity and racist rhetoric are threats.
