TalkTV’s Mike Graham responded to the health alert by saying, “Summer is called summer because it gets a bit warm.” London is preparing for a heatwave as summer arrives. The cityscape is filled with tall buildings and housing estates as far as you can see. The weather forecast predicts that this weekend will be the hottest so far, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius. It might even be hotter than popular summer destinations like Marbella, Ibiza, and Tenerife.
It’s not surprising that it’s getting hot now that summer is here. During this time, people enjoy being outside, wearing t-shirts and shorts, and enjoying the sun. Some like to get a tan, while others are simply happy to feel warm after a long winter. Although the sun doesn’t appear often in Britain, this heatwave reminds us that summer does exist here, even if it doesn’t last long.
It’s important to stay cool and take precautions in hot weather. If you have fair skin, use sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Drink plenty of water and, if possible, use air conditioning to stay comfortable.
While the Met Office provides advice on staying safe during the summer, remember that this heatwave won’t last forever. By the end of the week, temperatures will likely drop, and the usual gray and wet weather will return. This is normal for Britain, where warm weather is not common. However, the summer season brings a nice break and a chance to enjoy the sun for a little while.
