A man was sent to jail because he stabbed another man twice in Bartley Green last year. Christopher Hollis was on Cromwell Lane on April 4, 2022. He went into two houses that belonged to people he didn’t know and then stabbed the man on Woodcock Lane.
Hollis said he was in a drug-induced psychosis. Throughout the day, neighbors saw him and he went inside the houses through unlocked doors. The residents asked him to leave both times. Later that day, Hollis stabbed the man in the back as he was leaving a house on Woodcock Lane. The attack was random. The police found Hollis and arrested him after investigating the incident.
When the police arrived, Hollis had two knives and tried to attack the officers. They used a Taser to stop him and arrested him. During questioning, Hollis, who lived on Woodcock Lane, said he couldn’t remember the stabbing because of his mental state. He claimed he entered the houses to seek help. Hollis was given a home drug treatment order, but on April 24 of this year, the police found him with a kitchen knife on a bus on Cromwell Lane. They arrested and charged him.
Hollis pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on June 5 and was sentenced to nine years in prison. Detective Constable Darren Lennox from Force CID said, “Hollis attacked an innocent man without reason. Luckily, the injuries were not life-threatening, but they could have been worse. Carrying a knife is illegal and dangerous, no matter the person’s mental state. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable.”
