Following an incident that occurred at Doe Bank Park in Pheasey, an investigation has been initiated. The incident took place shortly before 7pm last Sunday and resulted in two individuals sustaining head and facial injuries. In relation to this incident, three Birmingham residents, namely Stephen McCallum (38), David Hammond (39), and James Bond (58), have been charged with racially aggravated assault and violent disorder. The accused individuals appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Thursday to face these charges. A fourth individual who was arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge.
Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby, the local policing commander for Walsall, commented on the ongoing investigation, stating that due to the charges laid against the accused, the information that can be shared is limited to avoid prejudicing the case. He emphasized the importance of avoiding speculation about the incident, as it could potentially impact the investigation’s outcome. Dolby stressed the significance of achieving legal justice for the victims and requested that the public refrain from taking matters into their own hands.
To maintain public safety and provide reassurance, the police will increase their presence around Doe Bank Park. Collaborative efforts are underway with local partners and community leaders to keep the community informed about the progress of the investigation. The police also appealed to anyone who may possess mobile footage relevant to the incident to come forward and share it with the West Midlands Police. Additionally, authorities urged the public not to distribute a distressing video of the attack that has been circulating on social media.
